FAQ festival wristbands
What are woven control bracelets?
Woven control wristbands are high-quality polyester fabric wristbands which allow an extremely adaptable, multi-colored individual design. They are highly tamper-proof, non-transferable and very comfortable to wear.
What is the difference between woven and printed control wristbands?
Woven wristbands are the highest quality and, in combination with our fasteners, the most secure control wristbands. No backing material is printed, but the festival wristband is produced on a highly specialized loom by weaving the threads/yarns together in different colors to create your individual motif. Printed control bands are the cheaper option and work well for gradient designs, but have a lower overall quality and don’t feel as premium as woven bands. Printed ribbons with economy closure are suitable for events where security/risk of tampering is less important.

How long can you wear the fabric lanyard?
The woven control wristband was developed for events lasting several days. It is characterized by high wearing comfort and is extremely durable and tear-resistant. It is washable up to 60 °C, the strap ends are machine-welded and do not fray.
Who uses woven control bracelets?
In addition to music festivals and VIP areas, our wristbands are also very popular at various sporting events (including tennis tournaments, Formula 1, etc.), amusement parks, zoos, charity events, graduation balls, company parties and much more.

7 of the 10 biggest festivals in Germany use our fabric control wristbands. Since all major festivals in Austria also trust our technology, there’s a good chance that every festival fan will be wearing one by the end of this summer.
Why are there so many different types of fasteners for textile control wristbands?
When textile control wristbands were first introduced as access control for music festivals and other events in Scandinavia in the early 00s, these festival wristbands were still fitted with aluminum eyelets, which had to be pressed together with special locking pliers after the wristband was put on the visitor’s wrist.
Through years of field testing and customer involvement, we developed self-closing quick-release fasteners. The market response to this innovation was extraordinary as our SmartLock and SlideLock fasteners (with internal locking mechanism made of high-quality steel) offer the convincing advantages of the woven fabric entry strap without the need for additional locking devices. We secured several international utility models and patents for this invention. In the years that followed, other self-closing control wristband fasteners came onto the market, such as our Economy Lock, which is made entirely of plastic (including the inner mechanism). Although the Economy Lock is cheaper to produce, it is less tamper-proof.
Another type of closure is our sustainable wooden closure, a two-part hybrid closure made of wood and plastic, with the plastic content reduced by 50%. We will be happy to advise you on which type of closure is the most suitable for you and best meets your requirements.
What closure colors are available for festival wristbands?
Our standard closure color for self-closing closures is black. We are also happy to offer other closure colors for a small surcharge. It is also possible to dye the closure colors according to Pantone specifications.
What is RFID?
An RFID system consists of a transponder (RFID tag), which is pre-applied to the control wristband and contains an identifying code, and a reader to read this code.
RFID works with weak electromagnetic waves that are emitted by a reader. If a transponder is brought within range of this antenna, information can be read from the transponder’s memory without contact or data can be stored on it.
The RFID wristband tags do not have their own power supply and draw their energy directly from the energy field of the reader. This means that the passive chip only transmits a number (ID) when it is actively activated from outside (reader) in the immediate vicinity.
The read ranges are heavily dependent on the size of the transponder, the frequency and the antenna. Our pre-applied RFID tags on the control wristbands have NFC chips (near-field communication). NFC is a specialization of RFID technology that specializes in short distances (up to 5 cm) and secure data transmission.
Why not use NFC-enabled smartphones instead of RFID wristbands?
On the one hand, not all event visitors have an NFC-enabled smartphone. On the other hand, smartphones require energy (in contrast to the RFID tags of the control wristbands) and the charging capacities for smartphones at events are very limited. Apart from the practical points mentioned above, an RFID system may require the transponder or chip to be permanently bound to the user’s wrist for security and data integrity reasons.
